About the Author
Hitoshi Ichihashi
Born in 1969 in Sabae City, Fukui Prefecture. After working as a resin molding technician, he set his sights on the world of traditional crafts and apprenticed under traditional craftsman Reiji Yamaguchi.
After manufacturing in a garage workshop and selling at flea markets, he launched the “Hacoa” brand in 2001.
In the process of establishing the brand, he began manufacturing and selling wooden goods directly, and in 2010 opened a store in Tokyo.
Grounded in traditional craft techniques while developing products that meet the needs of the times and customers, he has gained a devoted core fan base. His outstanding business acumen continues to attract attention from many quarters.
In 2022, he launched the consulting business “BizSense,” aimed at supporting small and medium-sized enterprises by leveraging this know-how.
BizSense
BizSense is a business consulting project founded in 2022 by Hitoshi Ichihashi.
“Hacoa,” the brand he represents, handles everything in-house from product planning through manufacturing and sales. Since 2010 it has expanded directly operated stores nationwide, and together with online sales via its e-commerce site, grew its annual sales twentyfold over 10 years to 1 billion yen.
It receives over 40 leasing inquiries per year from developers nationwide, drawing attention as a popular D2C brand company that can attract customers.
In addition, its approach to developing talent—training young people who gather from across Japan through I-turn and U-turn relocation—has attracted attention from companies in many fields.
BizSense runs a project that provides and supports many companies, sole proprietors, and entrepreneurs pursuing new business development by offering the branding and databases used in-house for product development, store development, and sales.
