About the Author
Hitoshi Ichihashi
Born in 1969 in Sabae City, Fukui Prefecture. After working as a resin molding technician, he set his sights on the world of traditional crafts and studied under traditional craftsperson Reiji Yamaguchi.
After making products in a garage workshop and selling them at flea markets, he launched the “Hacoa” brand in 2001.
During the process of establishing the brand, he began manufacturing and selling wooden goods directly, and in 2010 succeeded in opening a store in Tokyo.
While grounded in traditional craft techniques, he has built a loyal core fan base by developing products that meet the needs of the times and of customers. His outstanding business acumen continues to draw attention from many quarters.
In 2022, he launched “BizSense,” a consulting business to support small and medium-sized enterprises by leveraging his know-how.
BizSense
BizSense is a business consulting project launched in 2022 by Hitoshi Ichihashi.
“Hacoa,” the brand he leads, handles everything in-house from product planning to manufacturing and sales; since 2010 it has rolled out company-owned stores nationwide, and together with online sales through its e-commerce site, it grew 20-fold over 10 years to annual sales of 1 billion yen.
It receives more than 40 leasing inquiries per year from developers nationwide and is attracting attention as a popular D2C brand company that can draw customers.
In addition, its human resource development methods—having trained young people who have relocated from around Japan through I-turn and U-turn moves—have drawn interest from companies across many fields.
BizSense operates a project that provides and supports many companies, sole proprietors, and entrepreneurs launching new businesses by sharing the branding and databases used in-house for product development, store development, and sales.
